Our Story

Liberty Bay Cellars is a small, artisan, winery situated just north of Agate Pass Bridge in Kitsap County, Washington.  The winery currently produces 1000 cases a year, amid greenhouses and display gardens on the surrounding 2 acres.

Winemaker and Liberty Bay Cellars founder, Dave Prigmore, has a long history with, and a passion for, wine as a result of decades in the restaurant industry. Dave passed the Court of Master Sommelier certificate exam and spent 12 years as one of the top sommeliers at the Metropolitan Grill.

Liberty Bay Cellars got it's start in 1999 when Dave and friends produced a barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon entirely by hand (or feet- as was the case that year.)  Fast forward to 2006 and Liberty Bay Cellars celebrated its first release of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2002 vintage.   Between the first barrel shared with friends and the 2006 release for public consumption, Dave studied winemaking with both Mike Januik and Jerry Bookwalter, both acclaimed winemaking pioneers in Washington state.

Current Liberty Bay Cellars releases include Merlot and Syrah, all hand-made with meticulous attention to every detail from the handpicked grapes to the labeling and corking of each bottle. Soon to be released 2005 Stillwater Creek Cabernet Sauvignon will be available early in 2009.  Our wines are found on many of Seattle's fine dining wine lists including:  The Georgian Room and the Fairmont Olympic Hotel, the Metropolitan Grill, El Gaucho, The Waterfront and the Washington Athletic Club.
